The SCImago Lab published its international ranking of worldwide research institutions, the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR).
The SCImago Institutions Rankings is a classification of academic and research-related institutions ranked by a composite indicator that combines three different sets of indicators based on research performance, innovation outputs and societal impact measured by their web visibility.
In the new edition, Almazov Centre retained its 2nd place among Russian healthcare institutions in terms of societal impact and moved up to 40th place among all Russian organizations by this indicator (94th place in 2023). In this category, Almazov Centre also moved up several points in the overall ranking – to 679th place among healthcare institutions in the world.
Almazov Centre also moved up to 4th place in the overall ranking of Russian medical research institutions (11th last year). Among all Russian research centres and universities in all specialties, Almazov Centre is ranked 43rd.
In addition, Almazov Centre was ranked 4th among Russian institutions in two subject categories – «Medicine» and «Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology».
Its position in the overall ranking also improved, despite an increase in the number of institutions ranked: 5956th in the world (6340th in 2023). A total of 9,054 universities and research institutions from all over the world were listed in the 2024 ranking, including 344 Russian institutions.
