On 6 June, the round table session «Biological Age Management: A Myth or Reality?» was held as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The session brought together leading experts in the field of preventive medicine, scientists and clinicians to discuss the issue of biological age management, cellular aging mechanisms, development of regenerative medicine drugs and slowing down aging. Evgeny Shlyakhto, Director General of Almazov Centre, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, delivered a presentation on cardiovascular aging and methods of slowing down vascular aging. He presented data from a survey of St. Petersburg residents, which demonstrated that individuals with accelerated vascular aging exhibited a higher risk of death from circulatory diseases. The main trends in the management of the rate of aging, including vascular aging, were outlined, commencing with physical activity, nutrition and concluding with the use of innovative drugs.
