On 1 July 2024, the Academic Board of Almazov Centre held a meeting to congratulate the Director General of the Centre, Evgeny Shlyakhto, on his jubilee. Colleagues and guests were invited to attend to offer their congratulations. Mikhail Karpenko, First Deputy Director General, and Alexandra Konradi, Deputy Director General for Research, delivered congratulatory speeches on behalf of the Centre's staff.
Evgeny Shlyakhto was honoured to receive congratulations from a number of distinguished figures, including President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the Russian Government Mikhail Mishustin, Chair of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly Valentina Matvienko, and Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko.
At the meeting, the Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, took the opportunity to extend his warmest congratulations to Evgeny Shlyakhto on the occasion of his 70th birthday. He also presented him with a Certificate of Honour in recognition of his significant contribution to the development of the St. Petersburg healthcare system and his many years of dedicated service. Sergey Bebenin, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Leningrad Region, and Sergey Yakhnyuk, Deputy of the State Duma, also offered their congratulations, noting that all scientific, clinical, educational and organisational activities of Prof. Shlyakhto are inextricably linked with St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. He has played a pivotal role in addressing some of the most pressing social issues in the region, including reducing morbidity and mortality rates, expanding access to high-tech medical care, enhancing the quality and availability of medical services, and fostering the growth of the health care system in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
In recognition of his exemplary contributions to health care and medical science, Sergei Bebenin bestowed upon Prof. Shlyakhto the Badge of Honour of the Legislative Assembly of the Leningrad Region.
