The experience of Almazov Center in the management and rehabilitation of patients after heart transplantation has formed the basis for organizing and developing, together with the international community, a prevention and rehabilitation programme for heart recipients.
In June 2024, the European clinical guidelines on prevention and rehabilitation after heart transplantation (Prevention and Rehabilitation after Heart Transplantation: A clinical consensus statement of the European Association of Preventive Cardiology, Heart Failure Association of the ESC, and the European Cardio Thoracic Transplant Association, a section of ESOT) were published. The statement was created under the guidance of Maria Simonenko, Senior Researcher at the Department of High-Tech Methods for Heart Failure Treatment.
The document represents a joint position on the management of heart recipients, agreed between the European Society of Cardiology and the European Society for Organ Transplantation. The expert consensus statement was developed by authors from around the world who are members of the committees of the European Association of Preventive Cardiology (EAPC), the Heart Failure Association (HFA), and the European Cardio-Thoracic Transplant Association.
The project was developed over several years. As a result of the valuable input from experts from three committees within the European Society of Cardiology and the European Society for Organ Transplantation, the clinical consensus statement was published simultaneously in three journals: European Journal of Heart Failure, European Journal of Preventive Cardiology and Transplant International.
