On 24-25 July 2024, Moscow hosted the annual international Healthy Life Forum, which brought together experts from CIS and BRICS countries, as well as representatives from the technology and health industries from around the globe. The Forum was organized by the Roscongress Foundation with support from the Russian Government and the Ministry of Health. Its purpose was to promote the country's national projects in the field of public health and healthy lifestyles, as well as the new national project, “Active Life and Longevity”. The Forum was attended by over 2,000 individuals from more than 35 countries, with an additional 7,000 participants joining online. The plenary session, entitled «How to increase the duration of a healthy and active life?», was dedicated to elucidating the objectives of the recently launched national project, «Active Life and Longevity». Speakers shared their insights on disseminating healthy lifestyle technologies among the general population. The discussion platforms were well-attended, eliciting positive feedback from the audience and focusing attention on pressing healthcare concerns.
The exhibition space at the Forum was the focal point of the event, where leading Russian medical centres showcased the latest technologies and achievements in healthcare.
Mikhail Murashko, Russian Health Minister, and Veronika Skvortsova, Head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency, were particularly interested in the unique developments presented by Director General, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Evgeny Shlyakhto, and researchers of Almazov Centre. Of particular note is the nitric oxide synthesis unit for inhalation therapy with gas production from atmospheric air by means of diffuse electric discharge, created under the guidance of Professor A. Bautin, Head of the Research Laboratory of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care. Furthermore, the project was conducted in collaboration with the Reference Centre for Nitric Oxide Technologies in Medicine and experts from Rusatom RDS JSC. The functionality of the device was demonstrated by anesthesiologist Dr. A. Radovsky. Despite its innovative nature, this technology is already being actively employed for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension in the intensive care units of Almazov Centre.
E. Tsvetkova, a researcher at the Research Department of Vascular and Interventional Surgery, presented promising developments under the guidance of Head of the Department Dr. Mikhail Chernyavsky. These included the first Russian-made self-expandable nitinol stent and a “smart” dressing for wound healing.
The exhibition showcased the DiaCompanion Pro mobile app developed by the WCRC for Personalized Medicine and designed for pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus. The app's user-friendly and intuitive interface enables users to predict glucose levels after meals and receive timely nutrition advice in real time, which helps prevent complications associated with high glucose levels in pregnancy.
Additionally, the following developments of the WCRC for Personalized Medicine were presented:
• [68GA]BQ7812, a new radiopharmaceutical for prostate cancer diagnosis
• Drug for the diagnosis and treatment of brain tumors
• A novel cd5-specific chimeric antigenic receptor
• T-cell bifunctional activator biosimilar
• GliomaRiskThrombosis Calculator, a new tool for neuro-oncology
• AI-based software to improve diagnostic accuracy for cervical cancer
• AI-based software to improve diagnostic accuracy for solid pancreatic masses
• COVID-19 mortality prediction calculator
The integration of cutting-edge Russian medical innovations into the clinical practice of Almazov Centre was made possible by the support of Director General, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Evgeny Shlyakhto.
By combining the accumulated experience of the past with a creative approach from young specialists, such events, backed by the Russian Ministry of Health, demonstrably improve the level of medical care provided to the general public and foster a greater awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
