Representatives of Almazov Centre participated in a scientific conference at Harbin Medical University. In July 2024, Anna Starshinova, Head of the Research Department, visited the Centre for Innovative Research in Infection and Immunity in Heilongjiang Province and held a series of meetings with Chinese colleagues.
At the conference of the Heilongjiang Society of Immunology, Anna Starshinova gave a presentation on «Innovations in Immunology: Fundamentals of Diagnosis and Treatment and Clinical Progress». She shared her insights with doctors and students of Harbin Medical University, introducing them to the capabilities of Almazov Centre and the results of research in the field of diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, including mycobacterial infection.
At the meeting with the Rector of Harbin Medical University, Professor Ji Young, Professor Hong Ling (Department of Microbiology, Immunology, Harbin Medical University) and Zhang Fengmin (Department of Microbiology and Parasitology, Heilongjiang Key Laboratory of Immunity and Infection), representatives of the Centre discussed further cooperation with the University. This included joint research projects and publications, as well as opportunities for exchange of experience in various fields of medicine and basic science.
The Russian scientists were particularly impressed by the warm welcome they received in the hospitals of Harbin and Heilongjiang Province. They were also grateful for the opportunity to observe the staff of the hospital for patients with pulmonary and infectious diseases, who demonstrated the diagnostic possibilities using immunological and bacteriological methods.
«We were honored to be the first Russian guests since 1992,» shared Anna Starshinova. “The vast majority of hospital specialists are highly qualified and in 90 per cent of cases are proficient in invasive diagnostic methods. We look forward to the opportunity to establish interaction and co-operation with hospitals both in Harbin and Heilongjiang Province in the future.”
