From 12 to 14 September 2024, the 9th China Vascular Congress (CVC 2024), organized by the National Cardiovascular Diseases Centre, was held in Chengdu, China. The congress has been successfully held for eight years and is based on the principles of 'innovation, translation and cooperation'. It focuses on the latest research results and advanced technologies in the field of vascular diseases, and brings together new technologies and scientific concepts from around the world.
The theme of this year's congress is «Patency of blood vessel, long river of life.» The China Vascular Congress aims to break down disciplinary barriers, broaden international horizons and provide a high-standard, high-quality platform for academic exchange of experts in cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, interventional radiology and other disciplines related to vascular diseases. The congress brought together specialists from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Argentina, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and other countries.
At the congress, Yulia Panteleeva, a researcher at the Research Department of Vascular and Interventional Surgery, gave a presentation on new endovascular approaches for treating aortic arch conditions. She also participated as an expert guest in a session devoted to the analysis of complex clinical cases in the surgery of aortic and visceral aneurysms. Professor Chang Shu, Chief Vascular Surgeon and President of the National Society of Vascular Surgery of China, expressed high appreciation for the presentation. He also acknowledged the invaluable contribution of Academician Evgeny Shlyakhto, Director General of Almazov Centre, and Dr. Mikhail Chernyavsky, Head of Research Department of Vascular and Interventional Surgery, to the introduction of innovative endovascular technologies in Russia.
Additionally, a one-day masterclass on the endovascular treatment of the aortic arch using intraoperative fenestration techniques was held for foreign doctors at the West China Hospital of Sichuan University, also known as the International Hospital of Sichuan Province. It is the largest national centre for diagnosis and routine treatment of complex diseases, as well as emergency care in western China. The masterclass included a lecture on various endovascular technologies for the treatment of aortic arch conditions, as well as three surgical demonstrations.
Attending international conferences and fellowships enables doctors to showcase their academic achievements to leading experts and scientists from around the world. It also facilitates the exchange and discussion of the latest advances and challenges in the field of cardiovascular disease, while enabling joint contributions to the development and progress of vascular surgery.
