From September 30 to October 02, Shumakov National Medical Research Centre of Transplantology and Artificial Organs in Moscow hosted the Jubilee XII All-Russian Transplant Congress with international participation.
The event brought together transplantologists, cardiac surgeons, thoracic and general surgeons, cardiologists, nephrologists, and transplant coordinators. The congress was attended by Mikhail Karpenko, First Deputy Director General of Almazov Centre; German Nikolaev, Chief Transplantologist of St. Petersburg and Head of Thoracic Surgery Research Laboratory; and Maria Simonenko, Senior Researcher at the Research Laboratory for High-Tech Methods of Heart Failure Treatment.
At the All-Russian Conference XVI Shumakov’s Readings, Mikhail Karpenko participated as a co-chairman, while Maria Simonenko delivered a presentation, entitled “Experience of heart transplantation for heart sarcoma in the Northwestern Federal District”, detailing the experience of multidisciplinary management of heart transplant recipients with heart sarcoma.
On 1 October, German Nikolaev co-chaired the Round Table with a surgical broadcast “Mechanical Circulatory Support Systems”.
The event addressed a range of topics related to transplantology, including the impact of the surgical procedure on the long-term outlook for recipients, strategies for managing recipients in the immediate and long-term post-operative periods, and the potential of transplantology, including rejection diagnostic biomarkers, the use of medical bioengineering and cell therapy.
