Federal Almazov North-West Medical Research Centre is one of the largest multidisciplinary research institutions in the Russian Federation. It includes 7 research institutes, among them: the Institute of Endocrinology, the Institute of Perinatology and Pediatrics as well as the Institute of Medical Education. Joint work of these institutes allowed organizing a Course of Gynecological Endocrinology for obstetricians and gynecologists.

The honoured guests of the Event were:

- Prof. Bruno Lunenfeld, Fellow Ad Eundum Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists, U.K. and Professor Emeritus at the Faculty of Life Sciences in Bar-Ilan University (Israel)
The co-chairs of the Event were:
- Dr. Irina Zazerskaya, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Almazov Centre
- Prof. Elena Grineva, Director of the Institute of Endocrinology at the Almazov Centre, Chief Endocrinologist of the North-Western Federal District.
The plenary sessions covered such topics as:
- Puberty and teenage gynecology
- Reproduction in patients with ovarian insufficiency, leiomyoma, endometriosis;
- Endocrine pathologies and pregnancy;
- Syndrome of premature ovarian failure and menopause;
- Osteoporosis, vitamin D deficiency.
- Ways of protection against the key problems of the 21st century — obesity, sarcopenia and oxidative stress — representing the three main types of hormonal imbalance.
- Deficiency of sex hormones, vitamin D, omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants.
The organizers of the Course were: Federal Almazov North-West Medical Research Centre, International Association ISSAM, Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of St. Petersburg, Russian Society of Gynecological Endocrinology and Menopause, Russian Association for Osteoporosis.
The Course of Gynecological Endocrinology aroused great interest among the participants; the presented information and experience was useful not only for obstetricians or gynecologists but also for general practitioners who face similar clinical cases in their everyday practice.
