Centre for Experimental Biomodeling

The Centre for Experimental Biomodeling makes part of the Institute of Experimental Medicine. Its main objective is to develop and validate the experimental models of diseases in small laboratory rodents. Simulation methods include surgical modification of animals, exposure to physical and chemical external factors. The Centre for Experimental Biomodeling conducts screening studies to assess the efficacy of pharmaceutical substances and medical prototypes.

The Centre has the necessary facilities for research and other purposes. Facilities in the Centre for Experimental Biomodeling include a unique state-of-art vivarium for SPF rodents on a separate floor of the building. In the “clean” zone of the vivarium, besides the animal rooms, there are a procedure room and an operating room for the surgical modification of animals in a chronic experiment. The Centre for Experimental Biomodeling comprises biochemical and chemical laboratories, laboratory of experimental pathology and acute experiment unit.
