On September 14-15, 2017, the General Director of the Almazov National Medical Research Centre Prof. Evgeny Shlyakhto took part in the BIOTECHMED 2017 conference held in Gelendzhik.
The event was devoted to the discussion of topical issues in public health and biotechnology and was organized with the support of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
BIOTECHMED 2017 was visited by Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova, leading experts in the field of biotechnology, representatives of federal and regional authorities, companies and institutions of the Krasnodar Region, business companies, foundations and development institutions, leaders of research institutions and universities, representatives of the Russian medical community.
Prof. Evgeny Shlyakhto presented the talk “Export of medical services in the Russian Federation (incoming medical tourism)” based on the experience of the Almazov National Medical Research Centre. Professor Shlyakhto showed general data on the medical care to foreign citizens in the first half of 2017. 234 patients sought treatment at the Center, 23.5% of them are citizens of Ukraine. The most popular medical areas among foreigners are neurosurgery, hematology, cardiac surgery and cardiology. Furthermore, 64% of inpatients were provided with high-tech medical care.
According to Professor Shlyakhto, the demand for medical services provided by the Almazov Centre is justified by the introduction of modern innovative technologies into the wide clinical practice, the high quality of medical care and its more affordable price compared to the European countries and Israel, for example.

At the working meeting with the health authorities of the Russian Federation, the congress experts discussed the prospects for the development of digital healthcare technologies, exchanged experience in the development of the Unified State Health Information System in 2015—2018.
