Prof. Evgeny Shlyakhto, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Chief Cardiologist of Saint-Petersburg and North-West Federal Region, President of the Russian Society of Cardiology and General Director of the Almazov National Medical Research Centre was awarded a fourth-class medal of the Order “For Merit to the Fartherland” for his valuable contribution to development of health service, medical science and longstanding devoted work.
The awarding ceremony was held in the Catherine's Palace of the Moscow Kremlin by President of Russia Vladimir Putin on November 15th. He thanked the awardees as outstanding citizens who “by their talent, hard work and courage raise the country”, inspire us and set the course.
“It is a great honour for me to be here and receive this high-level award which I certainly share with the staff of our Centre, medical and scientific community of the Russian Federation”, said Prof. Shlyakhto during the ceremony.
According to Prof. Shlyakhto, the image of a doctor who will treat patients in 3-5 years requires completely new innovative educational approaches. In this regard, he thanked the President on behalf of the Almazov Centre for support of the government in the development of innovative education in Russia.
