The I Congress of the Eurasian Society of Pediatric Neurosurgeons was held from November 29 to December 1, 2017 in Minsk.
The I Congress united the societies of children's neurosurgeons from Russia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Moldova, and Ukraine. The organizers of the I Congress of the Eurasian Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery were: the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, the Eurasian Association of Pediatric Neurosurgeons, the All-Russian Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery, the Ukrainian Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery, the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (ISPN), the European Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (ESPN).
About 400 delegates from the Russian Federation, Belarus, Great Britain, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Ukraine, Greece, Italy, Brazil, Spain, France, Israel and Japan took part in the event.
The group of neurosurgeons headed by Professor William Khachatryan and Head of Neurosurgical Department for Children Alexander Kim presented the work and achievements of the Almazov National Medical Research Centre.
Within the Congress, the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (ISPN) organized the Training School for young neurosurgeons. Young specialists of the Almazov Centre actively participated with presentations and scientific discussions on various topical issues of pediatric neurosurgery.
Professor M. Talabaev from Belarus was elected as the new President of the Eurasian Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (EAPN) for the period 2018—2019. The next congress will be held in Kazakhstan in 2019.
