Dr. Maria Simakova, senior researcher of the Department of Noncoronary Diseases at the Almazov National Medical Research Center took part in the meeting of the Expert Council on Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension of the Euro-Asian Region held in Berlin on December 7, 2017. The preliminary results of EMEA CTEPH Registry: An International Prospective Registry Investigating the Epidemiology, Diagnosis and Treatment of CTEPH Patients in EMEA Countries were discussed at this meeting. It was chaired by the leading expert in pulmonary hypertension, Professor Joanna Pepke-Zaba (Director of the National UK Pulmonary Vascular Diseases Unit from Papworth Hospital). The discussion was attended by doctors from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan and Russia. The Russian specialists from the Almazov Center (St. Petersburg), the Meshalkin National Medical Research Center (Novosibirsk), the Myasnikov Cardiological Center (Moscow), that recruited the highest number of patients in EMEA CTEPH Registry, proposed some ideas for the Registry interface optimization. The delegates also discussed different models of routing patients with CTEPH, establishment of pulmonary hypertension reference centres and the problem of surgical correction of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension in different countries.
