On May 16–18 the Almazov Centre held the all-Russian Youth Medical Conference with international participation Almazov’s Readings 2018 and the Young Professionals Forum Almazov’s Workshop. The events were attended by more than 800 young specialists under 35 years of age, residents, senior and graduate students from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Serbia. The conference was a venue for the young researchers from different research and clinical centers of our country and abroad to present the latest scientific achievements and exchange experience.
At the plenary session, Prof. Evgeny Shlyakhto, Director General of the Centre, gave a lecture on the future of medicine, development prospects for the biomedical science and training for young healthcare talents.
The three-day programme featured almost 300 presentations by young scientists in four cardiology sections, the sections of neurology, neurosurgery, molecular medicine, anesthesiology and reanimatology, pathology, obstetrics and gynecology, visualization and nuclear medicine, hematology, and rheumatology. It included sessions on cardiovascular surgery, endocrinology and translational medicine.
All sessions ended with lectures by the leading specialists who presented their thoughts about the future of the respective areas of specialization explored by the young presenters.
The conference included 20 workshops on various topics and satellite symposia on interdisciplinary issues. They also covered the hot topics at the interface between cardiology and neurology. For instance, neurologists and ENT specialists discussed the problems of vertigo diagnosis and treatment.
The conference featured a poster session where the young specialists presented more than 120 posters over three days. The closing plenary session summarized the results of the conference and announced the winners of the best paper awards. The organizers are convinced that the conference has succeeded in achieving its goal of bringing together the generations of dedicated people involved in all areas of medicine.
