On April 29, the delegation of the Almazov Centre led by Evgeny Shlyakhto, Director General of the Centre and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, visited Hadassah Medical Organization in Jerusalem, one of the largest and most advanced medical centers for health care, research and teaching in Israel. During the visit, the leading experts and heads of research groups at the Hadassah Medical Center spoke about their work. Specifically, this medical center conducts experimental and clinical studies in the field of stem cell therapy for various diseases, particularly with the use of embryonic stem cells. They have state-of-the-art GMP-compliant facilities for the production of cell products. The university hospital has a multidisciplinary clinic for the treatment of malformations, and certain congenital malformations are successfully treated using the EXIT procedure (ex utero intrapartum treatment) for a fetus at birth. The Israeli medical center uses the most advanced technologies for cancer treatment. Much interest was expressed in the possible cooperation in the clinical use of T-lymphocytes with chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) for the treatment of recurrent lymphomas and leukemias. The representatives of the delegation had an opportunity to learn about the structure and operation of several departments at the Hadassah hospital, including the pediatric unit, surgery unit, central sterilization department, and trauma center. In general, the trip contributed to the expansion of professional contacts between the specialists of the Hadassah and Almazov medical centers and made it possible to outline a number of promising areas for joint development based on the available resources of both organizations.
