Mkrtich Mosoyan

Head of Center for Robotic Surgery, Head of the Department of Urology with the Course of Robotic Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of the Institute of Medical Education of the Almazov Center, Professor of the Department of Urology at Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University, urologist, official da Vinci expert in Russia, MD.

In 1998 he graduated from Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University with a degree in General Medicine. In 2001 graduated from Urology Residency and in 2008 he received a certificate of a laparoscopic surgeon at Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University. From 2009 to 2011, he passed all stages of training on the Da Vinci robot in Europe (France, Czech Republic) and received a certificate of a console surgeon. In 2011 he successfully passed the exam and received a diploma in laparoscopic surgery at the University of Strasbourg (France).

From 2000 to 2007​ he was a doctor and from 2006 to 2013 an assistant at the Department of Urology, since 2013 he has been an assistant professor and since 2017 a professor of the Department of Urology in Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University. Since 2009 he has been a urologist at the Almazov Center and since 2017 the Head of the Department of Urology with the course of robotic surgery at the Almazov Center.

In 2004 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of medical sciences on the topic "Complications of transurethral resection of the prostate for patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia." In 2015 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "Optimization of approaches to robotic-assisted, laparoscopic and open operations for localized kidney cancer." Dr Mosoyan’s area of scientific interest is represented by the issues of endovideosurgical treatment of kidney cancer and prostate cancer.

Author of over 60 scientific publications and reports in Russia and abroad, author of 4 patents for the invention of surgical instruments. Since 2010, he has repeatedly studied at leading clinics in France, Germany and Czech Republic. He maintains professional relations with the founders of laparoscopy and robotic surgery in Europe: professors E. Mandron, P. -T. Piechaud, and R. Gaston.

Since 2001, a member of the Russian Association of Urologists. Since 2003 a member of the European Association of Urologists (EAU). In 2017, he became a member of the American Urological Association (AUA) on the recommendation of its president.

Practising urological surgeon since 2000. Performs a wide range of open, endoscopic, laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgeries on the organs of the genitourinary system. One of the most experienced robotic urological surgeons in Russia, he has been performing surgeries on the da Vinci S and Si complex since 2009. Repeatedly performed robot-assisted surgeries as part of the sessions of "live surgery" (Moscow, Krasnodar, Rostov, St. Petersburg). He performed more than 1000 urological robotic-assisted surgeries at the National Almazov Medical Research Center. Performed the first robotic-assisted surgeries and conducted training in clinics in other cities of Russia (Clinical Hospital of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation (Moscow), I.M.Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (Moscow), A.I. Evdokimov Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry (robot-assisted kidney surgery, Moscow), Central Clinical Hospital of Civil Aviation (Moscow), Clinical Diagnostic Center "Health" (Rostov-on-Don), Regional Clinical Hospital No. 1 (Krasnodar), City Hospital No. 40 (Sestroretsk). Was the first one to perform radical nephrectomy, kidney resection and radical prostatectomy on the Da Vinci robot in St. Petersburg. The results of surgical interventions match with the standards of the leading clinics in the USA and Europe.
