Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree approving the allocation of funds for the design and construction of a research and educational facility at the Almazov National Medical Research Centre in St. Petersburg.
According to the decree, the new research and educational facility with specialized training centres is scheduled to be commissioned in 2023.
The project prepared by the Russian Ministry of Health involves the implementation of new educational technologies for continuous training of specialists to ensure the provision of high-tech medical care. The Science City to be created at the Almazov Centre will provide a qualified staff for the Russian health care sector. It will comprise facilities for training, research, accommodation and recreation of medical specialists.
The total area of the new facilities will be 65 thousand square meters.
It should be noted that according to the decree of the Russian president Vladimir Putin the Almazov Center launches the higher education program for specialist training in general medicine starting from 2018.
