During the Russian National Congress of Cardiology, the Russian Society of Cardiology (RSC) held its 11th meeting. At this meeting, Prof. Evgeny Shlyakhto, Director General of the Almazov Centre, Academician and Presidium Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, President of the Russian Society of Cardiology, Chief Cardiologist of St. Petersburg, chief visiting cardiologist of the Russian Ministry of Health for the Volga, Southern, North Caucasian and Northwestern federal districts was reelected as the President for another term.
The RSC is not just an association of cardiologists, but also an all-Russian organization bringing together cardiologists and related specialists and fostering professional ties between them. The RSC is a member of the National Medical Chamber.
Among its goals are developing the Russian medical science, promoting research in cardiology and related specialties, introducing the results of research into clinical practice, establishing professional and scientific contacts with the specialists and societies of other medical specialties in Russia, promoting international cooperation and advancing the achievements of Russian cardiology globally.
“While much has been done towards achieving the goals, there is still a long way to go. I believe we will do everything we can to develop cardiology science and enhance the quality of care in Russia,” states Evgeny Shlyakhto.
