On September 28–30, the 12th European Headache Federation (EHF) Congress took place in Florence, Italy.
The Congress brought together professors, doctors and medical residents from around the globe. Dr. Dmitry Ovchinnikov, Chief of the Diagnostic Centre, and Elena Marchenko, graduate of the Department of Neurology, were invited by the European Headache Federation to attend the event.
The Congress featured lectures, presentations and a hands-on workshop on botulinum toxin injections for the treatment of migraines where attendees could learn about the injection techniques.
The speakers at the congress presented the results of the recent studies on the pathogenesis of migraine and cluster headache as well as on the breakthroughs in migraine treatment. Some sessions were devoted to headaches associated with hormonal changes, sports, gender and other epidemiologic factors.
The session of the School of Advanced Studies featured the presentation prepared by the international group of young scientists “A PRISMA-compliant systematic review of the endpoints employed to evaluate symptomatic treatments for primary headaches”, and Dr. Dmitry Ovchinnikov was among its members.
At the opening ceremony of the Congress, our specialists received certificates awarded by the School of Advanced Studies on Headaches of Sapienza University from Paolo Martelletti, EHF President.
