On June 20–21, Arrhythmology Research Department and the Competence Center for Arrhythmology of Almazov Centre held the scientific and practical symposium entitled “Novel approaches for treatment of bradyarrhythmias and conduction disorders: His bundle pacing.”
The symposium was a joint Russian-American event attended by doctors from the USA: Vijayaraman Pugazhendhi and Michael Orlov, international experts in His pacing, the new method for cardiac pacing. The symposium brought together about 30 leading arrhythmologists from Moscow, Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, St. Petersburg, and, in particular, Almazov Centre.
The symposium featured three surgeries with live broadcast showcasing the use of a new method for atrioventricular conduction disorders, clinical case discussions and a round table. The lectures were devoted to the anatomy of His bundle, clinical effectiveness of His pacing, the characteristics of
implantation and tools, the principles of device programming.
The symposium helped enhance the treatment of bradyarrhythmias and conduction disorders through the use of permanent His bundle pacing, including in patients with heart failure.
During the symposium, American doctors met with Director General Evgeny Shlyakhto and Chief Researcher of Arrhythmology Department Dmitry Lebedev to outline the ways of cooperation for the development of new cardiac pacing techniques in the experiment on bio-models and preparation for clinical trials.
