Providing medical care and relief to patients with prolonged disorders of consciousness (DoC) is one of the priorities for the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit of Polenov Neurosurgical Institute (branch of Almazov Centre) where they are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation. Together with researchers from the University of Liège (Belgium), the specialists of the Institute have been engaged in research and practical work for the development and introduction of advanced diagnostic and treatment methods for prolonged DoC and prediction of consciousness recovery.
On July 18, Aurora Tiboua, MD, PhD, the leading specialist of Coma Science Group at the University of Liège and one of the European experts in prolonged disorders of consciousness, visited Polenov Neurosurgical Institute.
She gave a lecture Neuromodulation to Improve Patient Responsiveness After a Period of Coma.
