On August 28, Almazov National Medical Research Centre held a meeting of the leading research and educational institutions in biomedicine entitled “Medicine in Saint Petersburg: 5-Year Prospects”.
The event was attended by Anna Mityanina, Vice Governor of St. Petersburg; Vladimir Knyaginin, Vice Governor of St. Petersburg; Evgeny Shlyakhto, Director General of Almazov Centre, as well as the presidents of leading universities and heads of major specialized institutions.
The meeting was organized to meet the need for joint decisions pursuant to the Presidential Decree On National Goals and Strategic Objectives of the Russian Federation to 2024 and the tasks of the Healthcare National Project in order to ensure the involvement of leading medical research and educational institutions of St. Petersburg in the innovative development of health care in the city, guarantee free medical care for all population groups and improve its quality.
The Vice Governor Anna Mityanina made a proposal to create a working group for the development of a future medicine concept.
The Director General of the Centre Evgeny Shlyakhto gave a presentation “New healthcare paradigms: consolidation, integration and innovation” focusing on the value-based care, patient’s interests, integration of processes and acceleration of innovations. He also set the list of measures that are necessary to establish a systematic effectiveness assessment for the healthcare system.
The participants of the meeting agreed on the importance of creating the necessary conditions to effectively set up an innovative healthcare model in the city.
