The specialists of Almazov Centre are internationally recognized experts in the treatment of atrial fibrillation. Annually, they perform more than 1000 interventional treatment procedures for this disease.
The Centre regularly holds training courses for foreign specialists.
On October 3–4, the first advanced training course on catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation took place. The course was delivered in English. The goal of this course is to enhance knowledge and manual skills needed for the specific interventional treatment of complex cases of paroxysmal and persistent atrial fibrillation. Arrhythmologists and technicians involved in high-tech surgery from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Turkey, Canada and Saudi Arabia attended the course of lectures, participated in round table discussions, attended x-ray operating rooms and practiced on a surgical simulator.
Lectures and showcase surgery were delivered by the course director Prof. Dmitry Lebedev; head of the educational programme, Professor of Cardiovascular Surgery Department Evgeny Mikhailov; specialists of Arrhythmology Research Department: A. Kamenev, S. Gureev, R. Tatarsky, S. Garkina, V. Orshanskaya, S. Nemtsov, M. Abramov, N. Gasymova.
The guests were pleased to note the high level of the course, the highly topical programme, the coordinated teamwork of doctors and nurses at the Department of Arrhythmia and X-ray surgery at Almazov Centre.
The current plans are to expand the range of educational programmes for foreign specialists delivered by the Research Institute of Arrhythmology.
