The Museum is an educational project of the Russian Society of Cardiology. It was officially opened by Director General of Almazov Centre, President of the Russian Society of Cardiology, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Evgeny Shlyakhto and Director of the City Centre for Medical Prevention Dmitry Chentsov.
The Health Museum combines interactive learning with visual resources to promote a healthy lifestyle. The interactive programmes for children were specifically designed by the specialists of Almazov Centre. Four programmes have been developed so far: “How the heart works”, “Harmful or helpful”, “This bizarre alcohol”, “What is cigarette smoke”. The museum intends to create programmes not only for children and adolescents, but also for adults.
The interactive exhibits were launched at the Health Museum in late summer 2019. About 250 school students visited the Museum during the pilot period from August to October. During this time, the specialists managed to find out and take into account their ideas about the programmes.
At the opening ceremony, the specialists presented two new programmes, showed new exhibits and told about the adaptation of classes for visually impaired people.
“Promoting a healthy lifestyle is a very important common challenge for the medical community. We have been striving to create a modern museum that will provide not only knowledge but also skills, and at the same time will become a friendly, comfortable space for children. We hope that this museum, in cooperation with schools, will raise and discuss the issues that are important for children and adolescents, and the project will gradually begin to work for adults as well,” commented Evgeny Shlyakhto.
