On December 20–21, Vishnevsky National Medical Research Centre of Surgery in Moscow held the All-Russian scientific and practical conference Endovascular Treatment of Aortic and Peripheral Arterial Disease organized by the Russian Scientific Society of Specialists in X-ray Endovascular Diagnosis and Treatment and the Russian Society of Angiology and Vascular Surgery.
On December 19, a training course was organized as part of the conference. The specialists of Almazov Centre – Head of Vascular and Interventional Surgery Research Department Mikhail Chernyavsky, cardiologist of Cardiovascular Surgery Department Yuri Kudaev and Junior Researcher of Research Laboratory for Vascular and Hybrid Surgery Nikolai Zherdev gave 8 presentations covering the latest scientific data on the diagnosis and treatment of aortic and peripheral arterial diseases. The training course brought together more than 100 specialists. The presentations were followed by lively discussions on controversial issues in drug therapy and endovascular and hybrid surgical treatments for patients with multifocal atherosclerosis. The specialists of Almazov Centre shared their own experience.
More than 100 presentations were made at the conference. Mikhail Chernyavsky, Nikolai Zherdev and the doctor of the Department for X-ray Diagnostic and Treatment Methods V. Krasnov presented the experience of the Vascular and Interventional Surgery Research Department in the hybrid surgical treatment of aortic and peripheral arterial lesions. Dr. Mikhail Chernyavsky took part as an expert in sessions on the surgical treatment of brachiocephalic atherosclerosis and aortic arch disease.
