The event brought together the founders of the Cluster, representatives of universities and its member companies.
Chairman of the Coordinating Council of the Translational Medicine Cluster and Director General of Almazov Centre, Evgeny Shlyakhto opened the meeting by talking about the main results of 2019 and plans for 2020.
Among the achievements of the past year, Evgeny Shlyakhto cited a number of ongoing joint projects implemented by the participants of the Coordinating Council. These include the development of an automated system for histological studies based on artificial intelligence technology, an innovative digital x-ray diagnostic system for neonatology and pediatrics, an implantable device for the treatment of epilepsy. He also highlighted the importance of participating in the preparation of scientific development programmes in St. Petersburg, joint developments under grants of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, and emphasized the need to approve a precise policy for the Cluster and the management company for 2020.
Deputy Director General for Research Prof. Alexandra Konradi gave a presentation “On holding the 3rd Saint Petersburg Medical Innovation Forum dedicated to the 40th anniversary of Almazov Centre in 2020”, presenting the structure of the event and its scientific programme.
At the meeting, Executive Director of the Cluster Management Company, Innovations and Digital Technologies in Healthcare, Vladimir Muliukha gave a presentation “Work Programme of Cluster Management Company for 2020”. Summing up the results, he spoke about the plans to develop the development programme for 2020–2024 and a project to create inter-university interdisciplinary teams of students and young scientists.
In conclusion, Director of the Centre for Cluster Development of St. Petersburg, Marina Zinina presented the activities of the Centre and invited to join them.
The decision of the meeting was to supplement the work programme for 2020 and instruct the management company to pursue the project for creating an inter-university student scientific society, and recommend Cluster members to take part in the creation of smart clinic technological concepts.
