From May 25 to 29, Almazov Centre held a scientific and practical seminar Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders. The event was organized by Almazov Centre and the Russian Society of Bariatric Surgeons.
Considering the COVID-19 situation, this year’s evet was held online. For five days, leading bariatric surgeons, endocrinologists, general practitioners, anesthesiologists, psychologists and nutritionists gave lectures for future and practicing specialists from all over Russia and neighboring countries.
The structure of the event remained the same: extensive lectures, broadcast surgery with step-by-step analysis of technical aspects, discussions and Q&A sessions. Emphasis in training was on the interaction with bariatric patients, multidisciplinary approach, technical features of bariatric surgery, tactics in case of complications. The major goal of the seminar is to prepare surgeons for bariatric practice and prevent them from common mistakes.
