On September 17-18, the all-Russian scientific and practical conference Topical Issues of Endoscopy was held in St. Petersburg. The conference featured a special session titled “Endoscopy in the context of an epidemic of a new coronavirus infection” to discuss the guidelines for epidemiological safety during the gradual restoration of normal operations of endoscopy departments and units.
The event featured two live broadcasts of endoscopic procedures from the OR of Almazov Centre:
- Biopsy of the pancreatic cystic lesion. Biopsy was performed for a pancreatic neoplasm that was difficult to diagnose. A thin needle is inserted through an echoendoscope to access the lesion from the stomach, and biopsy forceps are then passed through the channel. This procedure allows for a complete morphological diagnosis.
- Complex diagnostic case of a colon neoplasm. Colonoscopy with magnification (ZOOM endoscopy, magnification up to 145 times) was performed with narrow spectrum imaging. The goal was to determine the stage of the neoplasm and choose the correct treatment option.
