The Perinatal Centre of Almazov National Medical Research Centre opened its doors on November 1, 2010. In 10 years of its existence, about 30 thousand babies were born here.
The Perinatal Centre is an example of integrated care provided by neonatologists, pediatricians, obstetricians/gynecologists, cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, endocrinologists, hematologists, oncologists. The efforts of these specialists are aimed at planning and managing pregnancy in women with cardiovascular, endocrine, hematological diseases, cancer, nervous system diseases, choosing a method of delivery, providing specialized care in the postpartum period as well as performing surgery in newborns with congenital malformations in the prenatal and neonatal period.
About 80% of pregnant women admitted to the Centre have obstetric, extragenital or fetal complications. Thanks to the expertise of doctors, women with all these complications as well as with severe uteroplacental blood flow disorders and cardiovascular diseases successfully give birth to their babies.
The specialists of Almazov Centre have gained a unique experience in the management of pregnant women with pulmonary hypertension, hematological, endocrine and neurosurgical diseases. They also help women who have had cancer to become mothers.
Doctors of the Perinatal Centre provide care for newborns for conditions of any complexity. The Department of Pediatric Surgery for Birth Defects and Acquired Conditions successfully performs surgery for various congenital defects in newborns and infants.
