On March 17, the 4th Annual Conference High Technologies in Gynecology of Childhood and Early Reproductive Age was held online at Almazov Centre. In her opening speech, Director of the Institute of Perinatology and Pediatrics Tatyana Pervunina stated that Almazov Centre was setting special tasks for the gynecological care of children and adolescents including the need to study the reproductive health in girls with reproductive system diseases and chronic conditions. Among such conditions are chronic heart failure, period after heart transplantation, severe arrhythmia as well as ongoing endocrine treatment. It is extremely important to preserve reproductive function in these patients by conducting medical genetic counseling.
Deputy Chief for Clinical Care and Pediatric Endocrinologist Elena Gurkina welcomed the online participants and highlighted the growing relevance of pediatric and adolescent gynecology.
The topics of the first module demonstrated that only a multidisciplinary approach provides effective and quality care for girls with gynecological diseases. Gennady Trufanov, Head of Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Medical Imaging presented the possibilities of modern medical imaging equipment and drew attention to the principles of its rational use. Clinic Director of Almazov Centre Eduard Komlichenko covered the topic of robot-assisted surgery in pediatric gynecology with a special emphasis on the use of this technology in girls with uterine malformations and tumors.
The Ministry of Health's Head Specialist in Child and Adolescent Gynecology Prof. Elena Uvarova shared an invaluable experience in the treatment of genital defects in girls. Elena Ulrikh, Chief Researcher of the Research Laboratory of Reproductive Technologies presented the fundamental and practical achievements in fertility preservation in girls with cancer. Head of Adolescent Gynecology Department Nadezhda Kokhreidze spoke about the principles of value-based medicine and presented the three-year results.
The second module of the conference was devoted to a very rarely discussed topic – pediatric urogynecology. This topic was covered by Head of the Research Laboratory for Surgery of Congenital Defects and Hereditary Disorders in Children Ilya Kagantsov and Head of Adolescent Gynecology Department Nadezhda Kokhreidze who emphasized the need for a multidisciplinary approach.
The third module was a vivid illustration of the treatment and diagnostic modalities of Almazov Centre. Rheumatologist N.A. Lyubimova and gynecologists K.Kh. Alieva, E.V. Petrenko, O.A. Dudar presented cases from their own practice.
During the event, a total of 327 participants connected from different regions of Russia. In their closing remarks, the hosts of the conference thanked the audience for their interest and highlighted that Almazov Centre was open to any forms of corporate communications with colleagues from the regions.
