Following the Order of the Russian Ministry of Health, Almazov Centre has launched a reference centre for immunohistochemical, pathomorphological and radiation imaging studies for cancer diagnosis. It started operating in 2021.
The reference centre was created to improve the diagnostic quality as part of the federal cancer control programme.
The reference centre provides consultations on the results of immunohistochemical, pathomorphological, molecular genetic and radiation imaging studies performed in other medical facilities, and specialists have the opportunity to share data with clinics through an information system using telemedicine technologies. In addition, in challenging diagnostic cases, the reference centre can perform immunohistochemical and molecular genetic studies of the delivered biological material and prepare respective conclusions.
The reference centre runs on the basis of Pathology Unit, Diagnostic Radiology Unit and Telemedicine Unit of Almazov Centre. Consultations are provided by the leading medical specialists in pathology and radiology.
