Times Higher Education (THE) has published its latest Impact Rankings assessing the global performances of universities against the Global Goals (THE Impact Rankings 2021).
The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.
Almazov Centre successfully debuted in international THE Impact Rankings by presenting the results of its Medical Education Institute among other indicators. Almazov Centre was ranked very high in terms of its contribution to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being. It was listed as the only Russian medical research centre and ranked between 101-200 out of 871 participants in this category. Four other Russian medical universities were also ranked in band 101-200 this year: Pavlov First Saint Petersburg State Medical University, Kazan State Medical University, Samara State Medical University and Siberian State Medical University. The THE Impact Rankings table on SDG 3 measures universities’ contribution to the development of healthcare, research on key diseases and conditions, their support for healthcare professions, and the health of students and staff.
Almazov Centre was ranked for two more categories of THE Impact Rankings: SDG 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions and SDG 4 Quality Education.
More than 1100 best universities from 98 countries participated in the ranking, including 86 universities from Russia.
It should be noted that Almazov Centre is the only research institution ranked high in the THE Impact Rankings. Participation in this ranking enhances our reputation as a teaching hospital on a global stage and shows the influential role research and education organisations can play in creating a more sustainable society and global community.
Almazov Centre also received a high praise from the Russian Ministry of Health.
