Such procedures are carried out in patients with remote myocardial infarction developing life-threatening arrhythmias, who are at high risk of sudden cardiac death.
Recently developed technology has been already proved a modern, safe and highly effective modality for the treatment of different rhythm disturbances. At the present time, the system, incorporating sonographic information from an intracardiac ultrasound transducer and three-dimensional navigation models of the heart, is present only in a few medical centers in Russia.
Three-dimensional navigation mapping allows to reduce X-ray radiation exposure of cardiology patients, and of operators performing ablation procedures. On the other hand, intracardiac echo visualization allows safety, since it shows to an operator real-time anatomy of tiny cardiac structures. Therefore, this improves overall efficacy and safety of interventional procedures, and opens new horizons in elimination of various cardiac arrhythmias.
