Despite the efforts of doctors, the number of people infected with the coronavirus is increasing steadily. As of June 24, 10% of the free bed capacity remained available in St. Petersburg.
In the context of the situation, on June 25, Almazov Centre was repurposed to receive COVID-19 patients for the third time following the relevant Order of the Russian Ministry of Health.
Almazov Centre reassigned 250 beds at its Rehabilitation Clinic at Parkhomenko avenue to provide care for COVID-19 patients.
The work in the infectious setting will be organized in the most effective way with strict routing of patients and isolation of departments. A unit for the delivery of medicines, food and medical supplies has been arranged and vehicle disinfection site has been prepared.
Despite the forecasts that the number of patients will increase, doctors are confident that the experience they gained during the pandemic and the treatment regimens as well as the available high-tech equipment will help save even severely affected patients.
For the first time, Almazov Centre was repurposed to treat patients with coronavirus infection in May 2020. The second time was in December 2020.
