On 27–29 October, Almazov Centre held Saint Petersburg School of Arrhythmology 2021 (all-Russian conference with international participation). This year’s 9th edition of the School of Arrhythmology was dedicated to the theme “New Forms of High-Tech Medical Care 2021.”
This 2021 edition placed a special emphasis on hands-on experience, discussions and lecture course devoted to the new types of high-tech medical care included in the state guarantee program of medical care in cardiovascular surgery: transvenous extraction of endocardial leads, modulation of cardiac contractility, endovascular LA appendage occlusion and surgical treatment of CHF in children.
The event featured plenary and breakout sessions, workshops and round tables focusing on the following topics: modern approaches to sudden death prevention, innovative arrhythmology, problems and prospects of pediatric cardiology and arrhythmology, aspects of anticoagulant and antithrombotic therapy, pathology issues of cardiovascular diseases.
Of particular interest to the audience were live surgery and hands-on workshops on the implantation of pacemaker / ICD / CRT devices, devices for cardiac contractility modulation, catheter ablation of various tachyarrhythmias in adults and children, endovascular left atrial appendage (LAA) closure, transvenous extraction of endocardial leads.
Special lectures, workshops and symposia were organized for cardiologists and pediatricians on new technologies for arrhythmia treatment, practical courses on programming of implanted devices were held. Training simulators were used to gain practical skills in cardiac catheterization.
Amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the event took place online.
