On November 22-24, Moscow hosted the annual 23rd Moscow International Congress on Endovascular Surgery – TCT Russia 2021 organized by Bagrat Alekyan, Chairman of the Russian Scientific Society of Specialists in X-ray Endovascular Diagnosis and Treatment and Gregg Stone, Head of Medical Research, Cardiovascular Research Foundation (USA).
The congress brought together more than 1,400 participants from 30 countries of the world. Leading foreign and Russian speakers for several days discussed a wide range of topical issues of modern endovascular surgery. The scientific programme of the event included about 200 presentations.
The surgical team headed by Chief of the Research Department of Vascular and Interventional Surgery Mikhail Chernyavsky performed endovascular repair of the abdominal aorta in a patient with complex aneurysm anatomy via live broadcast. The presidium highly praised the top-class equipment of the hybrid operating room and the high expertise of the surgeons, who played a key role in the favorable outcome of the patient's treatment. Thanks to the live broadcast from the OR, surgeons from various countries and regions of Russia could observe the surgery in real time, ask questions about the indications for surgery, the choice of instruments, devices and the technique.
Dr. Mikhail Chernyavsky gave a presentation at the session on endovascular treatment of aortic arch aneurysms with a detailed analysis of a complex endovascular repair of the aortic arch and its branches with the most vivid presentation of the course of the procedure and a description of strategic and technical nuances.
Chief of the Department of X-ray Surgical Methods of Diagnostics and Treatment Dmitry Zubarev moderated the symposium on endovascular treatment techniques for valvular heart disease and presented the advantages of minimally invasive approaches in the treatment of comorbid patients from the standpoint of his many years of experience in transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
The specialists of the Research Department of Vascular and Interventional Surgery gave 5 presentations on the results of using innovative endovascular and hybrid technologies in the treatment of aortic, valve and peripheral arterial diseases, including in emergency patients with COVID-19.
Participation in such notable events is an opportunity to showcase the experience of Almazov Centre and leading world experts in challenging clinical cases as well as to combine the latest Russian and foreign achievements in endovascular surgery and determine promising directions for further development.
