The Committee of the Russian Union of Scientific and Engineering Associations for the Hope of Russia award headed by member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Yu. Gulyaev summed up the results of the competition for young scientists and specialists who presented their projects for the Hope of Russia award in the field of science and technology.
Vasily Timofeev, Junior Researcher at the Research Department of Nuclear Medicine and Theranostics won the Hope of Russia award for his synthesis module for the production of 68Ga radiopharmaceuticals for PET imaging. This module is used at Almazov Centre for the synthesis of radiopharmaceuticals to diagnose prostate cancer and various neuroendocrine tumors. The module implements technical features that make radiopharmaceutical production more stable, reduce the rejection rate and the associated delays.
Considering that the theranostic pair of 68Ga/177Lu is used for treatment, the presented module can be converted to produce radiopharmaceuticals for therapy.
