On April 14, the regional round table meeting on prematurity [UN]MISSED OPPORTUNITY took place for the 9th time. It was organized by the Russian Association of Perinatal Medicine Specialists and the Society for the Development of Medicine and Healthcare.
The goal of the project is to draw attention of the medical community and general public to the issues related to the doctor's responsibility for the future of children born prematurely.
The meeting took place as a teleconference between Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kaluga, Petrozavodsk and was streamed live to all regions of Russia.
More than 500 Russian specialists took part in the discussion. Moderators of the meeting were Polina Olikh, representative of the Society for the Development of Medicine and Health and Anton Olenev, Chief Visiting Specialist in obstetrics and gynecology of the Moscow Department of Health, Head of Perinatal Centre of City Clinical Hospital No. 24.
The round table covered several topics: expanding neonatal screening, features of the immune system of premature neonates, flu vaccination in pregnant women and infants during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the impact of a child's quality of life on family life. Voting was held for each of the topics.

In addition, the event presented a new design of a Children's Doctor's Cap to be awarded to the best Russian doctors providing medical care to premature babies as a symbol of continuity and united effort.
