On April 27, Times Higher Education published the fourth edition of its Impact Rankings. The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.
The 2022 Impact Rankings includes 1,406 universities from 106 countries/regions. Despite more universities than in the past, Almazov Centre maintained its distinction as one of the top 200 universities worldwide for SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being (ranked in the 101–200 band with a score of 79.6). The THE Impact Rankings table on SDG 3 measures universities’ contribution to the development of healthcare, research on key diseases and conditions, their support for healthcare professions, and the health of students and staff. Among educational institutions in Russia, Almazov Centre ranked fourth for this goal out of 1,101 institutions that participated.
This year, as well as last year, Almazov Centre was also ranked for SDG 4 Quality Education by presenting the results of its Medical Education Institute among other indicators. This area measures universities’ contributions to early education and lifelong education, engagement in pedagogical research, and commitment to inclusive education.
Almazov Centre successfully debuted in international THE Impact Rankings in 2021.
Times Higher Education Impact initiative ranks universities against the United Nations’ (UN) 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that are planned to be achieved by 2030. The SDGs are a global call to action issued by the UN and include areas such as education, reduction of poverty, gender equity, peace and justice, healthy living, and clean energy, among others.
By participating in the rankings, universities demonstrate the important role they're playing in achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and championing a better and more sustainable future.
