On May 13-14, the Forum of Young Cardiologists of the Russian Society of Cardiology From Prevention to High-Tech Medical Care for Cardiovascular Diseases took place in Moscow. The event was held at Bakulev National Medical Research Centre of Cardiovascular Surgery.
The Forum brought together 1,360 online and 240 onsite participants who shared their results in presentations at English and Russian symposiums and showed the highest level of fundamental and clinical knowledge.
The Young Investigator Award 2022 symposium in English featured a presentation by researcher at the Cardiopulmonary Testing Research Laboratory Maria Simonenko entitled “Management of COVID-19 in heart transplant recipients”. The presentation was dedicated to the management of patients after heart transplantation in case of COVID-19 infection and was awarded a 2nd degree diploma.

The Forum also featured the Young Investigator Award session in Russian where 14 scientific projects were presented. Almazov Centre was represented by: research assistant at the Research Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Modeling and Gene Therapy of the WCRC for Personalized Medicine, E.S. Sivuschina and junior researcher at the Neuromodulation Research Laboratory, Arrhythmology Research Department M.S. Medved, who presented the project “Electrode implantation into the heart conduction system using intraoperative imaging: preliminary results” (awarded with the 1st degree diploma).
The winners of the clinical case competition in Russian were two specialists of Almazov Centre: A.V. Borodin and T.S. Kovalchuk.
The closing day of the Forum featured CardioQuest, a team game organized in the form of a clinical case study, where 45 doctors from nine teams from all over the country competed.
The multidisciplinary team of Almazov Centre consisted of junior researchers from the Research Laboratory of Congenital and Acquired Heart Defects: I.A. Kireeva, G.G. Sefieva and M.Yu. Pugina; junior researcher of the Research Laboratory of Aortа and Aortic Valve Diseases E. A. Kareva; anesthesiologist of the Department of Anesthesiology and ICU Department No. 7 G. A. Titukh.
The multidisciplinary approach helped the team win the 3rd place, thus demonstrating once again the importance of this method in solving clinical challenges.
