From September 15 to 16, the conference The Devil is in the Details 2022 took place in Saint Petersburg. It was devoted to a detailed analysis and discussion of topical issues in the diagnosis and intravascular treatment of cerebrovascular disorders. The conference was organized by Polenov Neurosurgical Institute (branch of Almazov Centre) and the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia.
Director of Polenov Neurosurgical Institute Prof. Konstantin Samochernykh took part in the conference as a coordinator and Dr. Andrey Petrov, Chief of Neurosurgery Department, Leading Researcher of the Research Laboratory for Cerebrovascular and Spinal Vascular Surgery took part as a keynote speaker and operating surgeon.
The event took place in the conference hall of the Angleterre Hotel. It was held in a hybrid format, providing an opportunity for the exchange of professional experience and discussions on topical issues in vascular neurosurgery between leading Russian and foreign experts.
The invited speakers were top specialists in the field intravascular neurosurgery including neurosurgeons of the Neurosurgery Department at Polenov Neurosurgical Institute: Head of the Research Laboratory for Cerebrovascular and Spinal Vascular Surgery Larisa Rozhchenko, Senior Researcher Sergei Goroschenko, Senior Researcher Arkady Ivanov.
The first day of the event featured interesting presentations on the surgery of cerebral aneurysms of various locations and the techniques of their intravascular treatment. Five surgical procedures were broadcasted live from the cath lab of Polenov Neurosurgical Institute. The second day featured surgical broadcasts of 3 live procedures for intravascular treatment of cerebrovascular conditions with high-shunt flow.
The conference brought together neurosurgeons, X-ray endovascular and vascular surgeons as well as many other specialists from related fields from all over Russia, neighboring countries (Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, etc.) and West Africa.
