From December 15 to 16, Almazov Centre hosted the first edition of the International GxP Congress themed “Russian practice in the modern context. Dialogue between the state and business towards improved interaction and integration in GxP processes.”
GxP is an abbreviation for generic good practice, which refers to the series of laws, regulations, and guidance that govern various areas of the research, development, testing, manufacturing, and distribution of medicines.
Prof. Evgeny Shlyakhto, Director General of Almazov Centre, opened the Congress with a welcoming speech: “Today it is very important for us to bring together drug developers, clinicians and manufacturers – those who really put into practice all our ideas and developments. It is very critical to support practices that encompass the regulatory framework, logistics in production and infrastructure. The Congress opens a new page in the development of this area. Indeed, a lot is being done to create medicines with a focus on the entire translational cycle, which includes three components: the idea, pilot production and scaling up. A lot is also being done at the World-Class Research Centre for Personalized Medicine, and I am sure that during the congress there will be an opportunity to discuss the current situation and think about where to go next. Today’s challenges dictate the need to make everything in Russia.”
It should be noted that research is always aimed at developing something new. The results of research projects help scientists make products of the best quality at the lowest cost, create new treatments and new pharmaceuticals. Scientific study is a vital element of scientific discoveries. At Almazov Centre, scientists conduct a wide range of scientific and preclinical studies and stay up-to-date with the latest and most relevant compliance standards.
The Congress discussed the following topics: R&D, preclinical and clinical trials, manufacturing, logistics and distribution of drugs.
The participants also visited Preclinical Translational Research Centre and took part in the workshops.
The Congress aimed to encourage a dialogue between pharmaceutical companies and government agencies in Russia and China and pool efforts for improved interaction to optimize GxP processes in Russia.
