On August 26, Almazov Centre hosted a visit of foreign participants of the Rosatom-IAEA technical tour as part of the Conference on Research Reactors.
The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with Russian medical institutions that use nuclear energy for medical applications, particularly in nuclear medicine and theranostics. Experts from Zambia, Ethiopia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan took part in the meeting. The guests highly praised the equipment of the radiology department and its achievements in cancer diagnosis, nuclear cardiology and neuroimaging.
The members of the delegation toured the Centre and visited the department of radiology. In this excursion, led by Head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Technologies with Clinic, Professor Daria Ryzhkova, the guests learned about the organization structure of the radiology department, activities of research and clinical groups involved in the synthesis and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals, diagnostic equipment and radioisotope techniques.
In closing, the participants of the meeting discussed plans and prospects for further effective cooperation in the field of nuclear medicine and training of specialists in radiation safety and radiology.
