Specialists of the Institute of Heart and Vessels of Almazov Centre (Arrhythmology Research Department, Neuromodulation Laboratory, Training Centre «Academy of Arrhythmology») held the first training course on catheter procedures in animals – endocardial multicontact mapping and radiofrequency ablation for the treatment of tachyarrhythmia and implantation of left ventricular electrodes for electrotherapy of heart failure at the Preclinical and Translational Research Centre.
Thanks to the cooperation of doctors and veterinarians at Almazov Centre as well as the availability of a fully equipped experimental operating room, such educational courses can now be held in Russia on a regular basis as a unique opportunity to gain relevant skills in the most advanced arrhythmia mapping technologies and new instruments.
Before first use in clinical practice, trainees will gain hands-on experience with new catheters, algorithms for processing intracardiac electrical signals and 3D navigation systems, hone their manual skills and gain invaluable experience before performing procedures on patients.
The new training course will be delivered by cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons: Dr. Alexander Vakhrushev; Heber Ivan Condori Leandro; Deputy Director of the Institute of Heart and Vessels for Research, Head of the Neuromodulation Research Laboratory, Dr. Evgeny Mikhailov; Head of the Academy of Arrhythmology, Head of the Arrhythmology Research Department, Prof. Dmitry Lebedev.
