On September 27, Almazov Centre hosted the joint conference of Health and Economy Working Groups as part of the Petersburg Dialogue Forum themed Towards a Healthy Society and Health Economy in the Age of COVID-19.
The opening address was delivered by Vice Governor of St. Petersburg Oleg Ergashev; Director General of Almazov Centre, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, head of the Health Working Group Evgeny Shlyakhto; Chief Economist of VEB RF, Head of the Russian part of the Economy Working Group Andrey Klepach.
At the first session titled “Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic”, Evgeny Shlyakhto gave a presentation on the topic “Lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic: what has changed in healthcare and society.” Head of Chair of Public Health at the Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry Nelli Naigovzina presented on the topic “Modern challenges in healthcare in the era of COVID-19”. Director of the Kommunarka Moscow Multidisciplinary Medical Centre Denis Protsenko shared his experience in organizing care for COVID-19 patients.
The participants of the meeting focused on such topics as rehabilitation provisions in post-COVID conditions; approaches to the development of COVID-19 drugs in response to changing strains; new technologies for developing and evaluating the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines; organization of medical care to COVID-19 patients in oncology.
Specialists of Almazov Centre spoke about their successful experience of organizing care for acute coronary syndrome during COVID-19 and in the post-COVID period, as well as introducing information technologies to manage patient flows and treatment outcomes.
The second session was titled «Health Economics and Demographic Consequences of the Pandemic.” It focused on the issues of healthcare economics, structural changes in healthcare, demographic and social consequences of COVID-19 in Russia.
Petersburg Dialogue was founded in 2001 as an open forum for the two nations to develop German-Russian relations. The Forum’s main priorities are to increase mutual understanding between Germany and Russia, to developing mutual cooperation in all social spheres, to broaden contacts between the two nations.
The Forum’s major tasks include building a constructive dialogue between the representatives of all social spheres of the two countries as a solid foundation for cooperation irrelative of the current political situation and developing joint projects in different areas (economics, healthcare, culture etc.).
