On October 26, Saint Petersburg hosted the 1st Congress of Medical and Health Tourism Experts from the BRICS and SCO member states. The event took place as part of the 10th St. Petersburg International Health Forum, a major North-Western event for presentation of innovative solutions aimed at improving the healthcare system. The Congress was organized by the St. Petersburg Tourism Development Committee.
As expected, the event provided a platform for effective communication and exchange of experience, and made it possible to present innovative methods in the field of health care. The participants focused on the issues of an international strategic partnership, the importance of the development for the travel industry, the need for state support for medical tourism and the creation of a dedicated association of participating countries.
They also discussed topical issues of branding, medical tourism promotion, international cooperation and the development of certain areas of medical tourism: oncology, cardiology, ophthalmology, general health improvement, longevity, rehabilitation, reproductive technologies, ethical, legal, practical aspects and more.
Almazov Centre was represented by Tatyana Fedorova, Leading Specialist of the Medical Services Export Group, who gave a presentation on the topic “Medical tourism as an opportunity for business partnership: experience of Almazov Centre.”
