On November 10-12, Moscow hosted the 24th International Congress of Endovascular Surgery organized by the Russian Society of Specialists in Endovascular Diagnosis and Treatment.
The first day of the event featured a new format of Endovascular Surgery Workshop for young researchers, who presented an overview of trusted and modern methods of treatment, advanced technologies and scientific research. Also, experts in the field of X-ray endovascular treatment of various cardiovascular conditions shared their experience and knowledge with novice doctors. Dr. Mikhail Chernyavsky, Head of Research Department of Vascular and Interventional Surgery, presented the most up-to-date world data and the experience of Almazov Centre in the treatment of obliterating atherosclerosis of lower limb arteries using balloon catheters and drug-eluting stents.
Dr. Dmitry Zubarev, Chief of the Department for X-ray Surgical Methods of Diagnosis and Treatment, told young doctors about his experience in selecting the optimal transcatheter aortic valve for various clinical cases. Artem Gorbatykh, Head of Research Laboratory of Interventional Surgery, presented up-to-date information on the indications and technique of surgical treatment for repairing an atrial septal defect and right ventricular outflow stenting in tetralogy of Fallot, one of the most severe congenital heart defects.
The following days of the Congress featured a scientific programme in the main areas of X-ray endovascular surgery. Each year, the meeting brings together leading researchers and clinicians from around the country to discuss major breakthroughs in medical research and real clinical cases. During the event, the surgical team headed by Artemy Chernov, Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery Department performed a showcase surgery for abdominal aortic repair with online broadcast from a hybrid operating room, and Mikhail Chernyavsky demonstrated a case of successful total endovascular aortic arch repair with fenestrated stent-grafts.
The Presidium highly praised the state-of-the-art equipment of the hybrid operating room and the expertise of specialists of Almazov Centre.
The annual Moscow International Congress of Endovascular Surgery is a major educational forum specializing in interventional cardiovascular surgery.
