On November 15-16, Almazov Centre held 2 international webinars with the China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University, China. The meetings focused on spine surgery and differential diagnosis of thyroid disorders.
For two days, the participants discussed topical issues in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the spine and thyroid gland, as well as the possibilities and features of using innovative diagnostic approaches and technologies.
The welcome address was delivered by the representatives of the China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University: Gao Ufey, Deputy Director of the hospital; Gu Rui, Deputy Dean of the hospital, Doctoral Supervisor, Chief physician of Orthopaedic and Lu In, Head of International Office. They thanked the specialists of Almazov Centre for taking part in these online meetings and emphasized the importance of experience exchange between Russian and Chinese specialists to discuss optimal treatment tactics and patient management.
The webinar on spinal surgery on November 15 featured the following presentations:
- “The use of a diode laser in the treatment of intervertebral disc degeneration” by Andrey Ivanenko, neurosurgeon, Neurosurgery Department 1 of Polenov Neurosurgical Institute;
- “3D printing in spine surgery: current stage and perspectives” by Roman Kovalenko, neurosurgeon, Almazov Centre.
Gu Rui, Deputy Dean of the China-Japan Union Hospital of Jilin University, gave a presentation on percutaneous vertebroplasty.
The webinar on thyroid disease on November 16 featured a presentation on differential diagnosis of ACTH-hypercortisolism by Elena Grineva, Director of the Institute of Endocrinology. Darya Ryzhkova, Chief Researcher of the Research Department of Nuclear Medicine and Theranostics, and Uliana Tsoi, Head of Neuroendocrinology Research Laboratory, gave a joint presentation entitled “Medullary carcinoma diagnosis and differential diagnosis.”
Chinese experts Sun Hui, Director of Thyroid Surgery and Director of Surgery Teaching and Research Department, and Daqi Zhang, Associate Professor of Surgery gave a presentation on dynamic monitoring of patients with medullary carcinoma.
