On November 26, the 7th Armenian-Russian Health Forum took place in Yerevan. This year, the key theme of the event was fighting cardiovascular diseases and cancer. In his opening speech, Mikhail Murashko, Russian Minister of Health, noted that in spite of significant progress in medical technology, the mortality structure is still dominated by cardiovascular diseases. He also emphasized that CVD prevention and treatment initiatives at the national level can raise life expectancy by 5 years.
The Ministry of Health has been supporting various areas of cooperation in the field of healthcare with Armenia for a long time. As a highlight of this year’s Forum, Almazov Centre signed a MoU with St. Gregory the Illuminator Medical Centre in Armenia. The MoU was signed by Arman Ovakimyan, Director of St. Gregory the Illuminator Medical Centre and Konstantin Samochernykh, Director of Polenov Neurosurgical Institute (branch of Almazov Centre). The purpose of the MoU is to establish cooperation in education and science in order to conduct joint research in the field of neurosurgery, neurology, neurocritical care and interventional treatments in cardiology.
The Minister of Health emphasized the importance of such forms of professional interaction. He also stressed the need to develop cooperation in the field of primary health care, digital health and telemedicine for personalized patient care.
The Forum featured presentations by two representatives of Almazov Centre: Konstantin Samochernykh (“Personalized medicine in neurosurgery: a translational approach from basic science to clinical application”) and Konstantin Abramov, Deputy Chief for Neurosurgery.
